Overview
Reverse osmosis is the primary demineralisation technology for boiler makeup, process water, and potable water production in refineries, petrochemical plants, LNG facilities, and power stations. Membrane performance depends on effective scale and fouling prevention. Antiscalants, biocides, and cleaning chemicals are selected based on feed water analysis, membrane type, recovery rate, and operating conditions.
Antiscalants
Threshold inhibitors dosed to RO feed water to prevent precipitation of sparingly soluble salts on membrane surfaces at concentration factors above saturation.
- Phosphonate-based Antiscalant
- Polymer-based Antiscalant (Polycarboxylic)
- Phosphorus-free Antiscalant
Membrane Cleaners
Formulated cleaning solutions for removing fouling deposits from RO and NF membranes during scheduled or corrective cleaning procedures.
- Alkaline Cleaner (high pH)
- Acid Cleaner (low pH)
- Specialty Organic Fouling Cleaner
Biocides
Non-oxidising biocides compatible with polyamide membranes for biofouling prevention and control.
- DBNPA (non-oxidising, membrane-safe)
- Isothiazoline
Pre-treatment Chemicals
Feed water conditioning chemicals to protect membranes from oxidant damage, particulate fouling, and pH-related scaling.
- Dechlorination Agent (Sodium Bisulphite)
- Coagulant (Ferric-based)
- pH Adjustment (HCl, NaOH)
