Oil & Gas Production
Field-proven chemistry for Indonesia’s upstream challenges, from ageing Sumatran and Kalimantan fields to deepwater blocks in the Makassar Strait and Andaman Sea.
Issues & Solutions
Indonesia’s upstream sector spans mature onshore basins, shallow offshore platforms, and frontier deepwater acreage. Each operating environment creates distinct chemical challenges that affect production efficiency, equipment integrity, and regulatory compliance.
Mature Wells & Declining Production
Major producing areas in Riau, South Sumatra, and East Kalimantan are deep into their production life. Reservoir pressure declines, separator efficiency drops, and emulsion stability worsens. Correctly dosed demulsifiers and production enhancers recover deferred production with minimal capex.
High Water Cut
Water production from mature Indonesian fields routinely exceeds 90% of total fluids, overwhelming separation train capacity and produced water handling. Reverse demulsifiers and flocculants reduce water-in-oil carryover, lower disposal volumes, and protect downstream reinjection equipment.
HPHT Conditions
High-pressure, high-temperature wells in the Natuna Sea, Andaman Sea, and deep Kutei Basin demand chemicals thermally stable above 150°C. Conventional scale inhibitors and corrosion inhibitors degrade at these conditions, leaving equipment unprotected during critical production intervals.
Deepwater Flow Assurance
Cold seabed temperatures in the Makassar Strait and deep Sulawesi Sea trigger paraffin deposition and asphaltene destabilisation in long subsea tiebacks. A single blocked flowline can shut in an entire satellite cluster; prevention costs a fraction of remediation by hot-oil or pigging intervention.
High H2S & Sour Service
South Sumatra, the Natuna Sea, and West Papua basins contain some of the highest H2S concentrations in Southeast Asia. Sour gas attacks carbon steel at accelerated rates and creates SCC risk in high-strength alloys; accurate scavenging chemistry prevents downgrading of export crude and eliminates personnel safety exceedances.
Waxy Crude & Pipeline Integrity
Sumatran and East Kalimantan crudes carry high wax content with pour points above 35°C in some fields. Uninsulated trunk lines and extended shutdown events drive wax gel formation that can render a pipeline unrestartable without costly intervention. Pour point depressants and wax inhibitors maintain fluidity across the full operating envelope.
