Overview
Open gear and wire rope lubrication demands a fundamentally different approach from enclosed gear lubrication. The lubricant must adhere tenaciously to the gear tooth flank through rotation, centrifugal force, and water washoff, while maintaining a film capable of carrying the full tooth contact load at very low sliding speeds. The CEPLATTYN product family addresses these requirements with highly viscous, adhesion-promoting carrier formulations, bitumen-based, tackified mineral, and solvent-free, combined with effective extreme-pressure additive packages.
Wire rope service additionally requires penetration of the lubricant deep into the rope core to protect inner wire surfaces from fretting wear and corrosion, while the outer surface film resists weathering and water ingress.
